The Breakfast Club, which takes its name from the cult 80s film, is well-known for its large breakfasts and brunches which they serve all day. It's also known for its crazy queues as there are no reservations allowed - these can stretch to an hour on weekends. Some people love this anticipation, peering through the restaurant front windows, chatting to strangers whilst queuing.
I've been to a couple of their branches - I walked straight into the Angel restaurant for dinner one weekday evening, whilst waited 45 minutes in the cold outside the Soho branch. Each time, the service was kind and relaxed; the restaurant has a hipster vibe, cool soundtrack and walls covered with 80s memorabilia. The menu has a lot of veggie and vegan options on it, so there's plenty to choose from.

Coffee was excellent and juices were zingy with added veg (try the green juice with kale, cucumber, apple and lime - £1.50 of the price is donated to a charity that staff choose so you feel virtuous morally as well as healthy). The Veggie All American was massive; chunks of fried potato, soft portobello mushrooms, a poached egg and handmade veg sausage were scoffed down, with pancakes and sweet maple syrup to finish. It is one of the those dishes that you can barely finish even if you haven't eaten all day! The Veggie Breakfast Burrito, crammed with grilled mushrooms, peppers and scrambled egg is large as well, but felt fresher and easier to eat with the creamy guacamole, salsa and cheese on the side.

Another time I had the Don't Have a Cow vegetarian burger - rings of roasted butternut squash, grilled halloumi and avocado in a toasted bun, served with skin-on fries. Compared to the other dishes that I've had at The Breakfast Club, this was disappointing as the butternut squash was tasteless. The fries, in particular the sweet potato fries, were very moreish and crispy. However the baked cinnamon cheesecake made up for it - light, sweet and topped with fresh berries.

The Breakfast Club lives up its hype - the breakfast and brunch dishes are good and hearty, and it's a good place to while away a lazy weekend morning with friends as you'll never be rushed. Most dishes are priced £8-12, but are generously-sized. But if you are one who likes their food fast, this is not for you!
